4WD Off Road – 1 Day Course

Our 4WD Off Road course has been designed to provide you with further knowledge and skills in off road driving safety and driving practices. The aim is to assist you in being a safer driver by presenting to you information on current off road safety issues and the importance of driver attitude and behaviour when behind the wheel.

The driving skills you will learn will bring you up to date with today’s driving techniques for today’s 4WD motor vehicle.

The days course will comprise of no more than 6 students, with 2 instructors, is run over a full day, commencing at 8am, finishing around 4pm, with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided.

The highly qualified instructors promise the day to be both informative and entertaining!

Brief Itinerary:

  • Registration and welcome
  • Brief overview and discussion of course outline
  • Posture / steering / acceleration / braking / clutch use
  • Vehicle awareness / understanding
  • Hill ascend / descend
  • Hazard approach / negotiation
  • Stall recovery
  • Route selection
  • Vehicle weight transfer

Each student partakes in these exercises on a one to one basis with an instructor in a controlled environment using the 4WD off road course at the Mt Cotton Driver Training Centre complex.

At least 2 x 4 seater 4WD vehicles are required for the course, supplied by your company (preferably non ABS and manual) 3 students and 1 instructor per vehicle.
